Task 8 - Review

Evaluation

Production Skills

Throughout this Unit I have learnt some new skills and I have advanced on my abilities to use certain software's such as Modeler, layout. The first one I used was modeler I used to put the models I downloaded from turbo squid I edited the models in modeler and I also added skelegons onto one of them just so I could use it in layout. In modeler I had to go through a number of models before I settled with the ones I picked I found that most of the models I downloaded where either not compatible of they just did not load but after going through all of that I did manage to get models suitable enough for my project.

The other piece of software I used was layout this was the most important one because I used this one to do my animation. After remember how to use layout I got stuck in with my animations although they aren't very long they did take a while to animate and I did have to convert my skelegons into bones on layout along with parenting and making a controller for my animation so it did take me a while to set everything up before I even began animating but after doing all of my preparation I did do a good enough animation and I am happy with the final product I have produced.

How close my original intentions matched my final product

During my project I intended to have a thirty second animation of a gun reloading I believe I have something close to that but not the same the reason being was I wasn't very good with my time management and I didn't work as fast as I could have done through out the project. My final outcome is of a good standard but I don't think it is as good as I could have made it be but I am happy with what I have and I do think I have done a reasonably good job with it. One thing I didn't do was make a full animation I only had enough time to do a basic version the reason for this was because I didn't work as fast as I could have done but other than that my outcome is a little different so it does not match my original intentions but I am still happy with what I have as a final product.

Time Management

I believe that my time management was not that good but it was good enough and at first I did stick to my schedule for a few weeks it wasn't until I got up to my production where I had problems but other than that it was good and I did manage to get everything do to a good standard. Some things I did do to make sure I was on track was things like my production log I used this like a diary to say what I managed to achieve each week this help me keep track of where I was up to each week during the project and I found this to be an effective way of showing of what I did each week so I found it useful and it helped me a lot. If I was to do a task early I would also start a task early although I only did this once or twice I did use the time to get work done quicker to try and get an early start on other task an I did mention this in my production log so I did try to do tasks as quick as could with the time I had to do them in through out the project.

Target audience and feedback

I believe that I did reach m target audience I also think a lot of people did like my animations well at last what was there anyway. One of the comments I got was "the animation was a bit slow" I think this is true and the reason for that was when I was rendering the animation it decided to go slow rather than the speed I set it at but I do agree this this comment. Another this mentioned was that "you should make the fingers move to grab the Ammo magazine" I also agree with this but I do think I did a good job with what already had but at the end of the day this is just feedback and I must take it into consideration if I choose to improve the animations. The final comment I got was that "the arms where to far in front of the body" I don't agree with this but I do think I could edit the animation a little bit but other than that it was fine to me and I am happy with the final result.

Summary and conclusion

Overall I believe this project has been successful although I had problems at some point I did manage to get through them and get things done I found this project to be challenging at some point but at most parts its wasn't so bad and I did enjoy the practical side of things. One of the things I found difficult was time management the reason for this is being is I took to long to get some of he work done that is why I think the animations lack a bit and that is why I am not so happy with my final results but I am happy with the overall project because I have done well well to finish it within the time I have give myself. One of the things I am most happy about is the skills I have adapted by using the software I am not particularly that good with the reason for this is because I couldn't get my head around some of the thing but after using it for a while now I am confident to say that I am good at using the software and I can say that it has been a good experience learning new hings throughout this project.

Task 7 - Post-production

Gun Spray Animation

Gun Reloading Animation

Task 6 - Production

Week beginning 04/05/15

3D Arm and Gun Model

First I started of With picking my 3D models I went with an arm model to begin with because I found it easier to animate. The problem I actually had was finding a gun suitable enough for my animation so I had to change my Idea a little bit and make to animation fit the gun I found but after that I did not really struggle to put the bones and the controller into the models because I was shown how to do it correctly but theses are the models I deiced to use for my animation.

Week beginning 11/05/15

Bones and Skelegons

In the above you can see that I have placed Skelegons in my arm models which I did in modeler and then after that you can see that I have turned them into Bones in LightWave I did this by going to set up and then clicking on Skelegons this turned them into bones. To use the objects we would then parent them to which I have talked about in the below but it isn't a hard process to do but after you've done that you can move the bones with the object to any position you would like to.

Week beginning 18/05/15

Parenting and Controller

Here you can see that I have Parented my bones and set them in position to fit around the handle of the Guns. All of the bones then lead to the controller which I can use to move all the objects at one I have done this with the gun but the difference with this is that when I move the handle of the gun it will only move all of the gun parts with it but I have made it so that you can move the gun parts such as the barrel and the ammo magazine on there own. Another thing I did was by making the forearm the main controller I was able to move the hand at the same time as the gun. This helped me to make the gun look like it was being fired which is what I was trying to do during the animation.

Week beginning 01/06/15

Rendering

First I started with a test frame for my rendering I was happy with what this looked like so I then moved on to Rendering out some of the animations I made because I decided to do it in parts rather than doing it as one big video which I regret doing now because it takes longer doing individual videos but this did take me a few days to do and I was happy with the results of some of my videos because I believe they looked really good and of a professional standard.

Week beginning 08/06/15

Texturing

After doing my test render I decided to add Textures to my arms and Gun so I went into the Surface editor and applied textures to the objects. for my arm i used a skin texture and for my gun I used a dark Iron texture this worked well and looked even better when I rendered my videos and I found it to look better than I expected it to.

Task 5 - Ethical/H&S Sign-off

Task 4 - Storyboard

Gun Reloading Animation

Task 3 - Ideas Generation

Weapon Reloading Animations

Here you can see that I am thinking about Animating a set of weapon reloading animations for my production I am hoping to try and achieve three or four really good animations but I will see how far I get into that when the time comes to animating the models I will eventually find for websites like turbo squid.

Here you can see some screen shots of a gun reload where the ammo magazine is thrown really far away I am think of doing something like this and I might add something funny like the ammo magazine being pulled from his mouth and if I don't do that I will do something funny like that if I am able to animate it.

In the above you can see some of the models I am interested in using for my animation I am hoping to also do a sniper if I choose to do a weapon reloading animation but I am still unsure about doing an animation with guns or with a bow and arrow so I will be doing more research to get a good idea on what I will do.

Bow and arrow reloading and shooting

Here you can see an animation of a character from a game firing and reloading a bow theses animation gives me lots of different ideas I could use in creating my own animation with a bow and arrow theses animations can been seen in games like Farcry 4 and Tomb raider and other games which involve hunting or there setting can be set in certain periods.

Here you can see some bow Models I have found these models are some which I have found for free on turbo squid and I think if decide to do a bow and arrow animation I might use one of these for my animation but I do think both of these are good models and that they are suitable it i decide to use them for my animations.

Character Animation

In this video you can see an animation involving a character I don't think I will do an animation using a character but I might end up using the arms for one to create a reloading animation i all depends on the models I find if I can get any what would fight correctly.

Here you can see some models I have found although these are ones I would have to purchase I think I could find some free ones to create my animation but theses are just to give you an idea of what I'm think of using to create my animation.

In the image above you can see some hands I might use for my animation I think they would work well to animate a gun reloading but I do think if I had long arms attached to the hands it might be more suitable for what I'm thinking of animation.

After looking into all the different ideas I could do for my animation I have decided to go with a simple gun reloading animation by I will be adding things into it like the ammo magazine being chucked into the distance and an animation of the ammo magazine being pulled out from the character mouth either way I will be adding extras so for my final product I will be doing a variety of gun reloads for my final animations.

Task 2 - Research

Examples of 3D Animation game-play

Here you can see a range of animations involving reloading a range of weapons which are assault rifles, carbines and SMGs and Sniper rifles I am hoping to create a few animations using a range of each weapon type if it is at all possible for me to create within my time scale.

Examples of 3D Assets

Here you can see a range of weapon models and I even have a few of arms and hands I might use for the animations I am hoping to create. Each of the models I have chosen I do hope to download the and use them but if it isn't possible for me to use them I will find some more and make use of what I have at this moment in time.

MAC11 SMG

M4A1 Carbine

AK74U Carbine

L96A1 Sniper Rifle
